My Ladies

The sun is pouring in and as promised, I have new works to display today. I borrowed Tim's camera because mine is still under the weather. They are quite a departure from my usual subject matter. I love my ladies though. The outlines are done in charcoal and the remainder in acrylic.
I found out this week that I have been accepted again into Art in the Park, Ottawa. I enjoyed this show last year, and look forward to being there again. I'm slotted for booth # 6, Central Isle. For more information you can visit their website: http://artinfoboy.org/
It's great to have the sun pouring in the windows this morning. I hope it's a sign of a productive painting day! Cheers.

Inspriration meets Promotion

I had a recent request to hang some of my paintings for kids in a storefront downtown. They always generate attention but, very few sales. Unfortunate, I think collecting art should be encouraged from a very young age but, what do I know!

It's April, right? The lack of sun is directly linked to my paintbrush blues. Today my plan is to put on some loud music and push threw the dreary skies. When my painting inspiration hit the wall last week, I pursued areas of self marketing. This takes me out of my comfort zone but, sometimes... isn't that the point. Marketing is the piece I'm missing. I've resolved to correct this. I put together a postcard which introduces people to my work. I have caught the attention of a couple of designers who are willing to promote me to the right clientele. I'm hoping this postcard will be a viable tool.

Speaking of self promotion... check out http://www.lmlstudio.com/!!!!! Coming soon to a virtual reality near you! I'm really excited about how it's coming together. My web designer is genius. I've been procrastinating about having my photo taken for the site. After the age of 5, who really likes to have their picture taken?

My camera is still down, will hopefully have new pics, of new work, by the end of the week.

Snow in the Spring

Inspiration comes in many forms, however, I wouldn't personally classify snow as one of them. Not in the spring at any rate. Seth was pleased when he discovered the overnight snowfall. We were able to make 2 snowmen on the way to the school bus this morning.

I experimented with some new techniques in the studio last week. Some I liked, some... not so much. It's left me wandering a little this week. Oh well, turn on the heater and get back at it. One painting that I loved and may turn into a series is that of a woman. A real gesture drawing. Not my usual route. Probably why I love her so much. The background is very textured, gives her wash a real aged feel. I can't add a photo of her because the camera took an unforeseen fall. In for repairs at the moment. Stay posted.

Thanks to all who attended my opening at Gallery 121 in Belleville. It was a fun afternoon, even without the wine. I'm pleased with the reaction to my work thus far, which include a couple of sales! Inspires me to keep going. The show continues until April 28Th, lots of time to still check it out.
